The
French Federation of Not-for-profit Hospitals and Personal Care Service (FEHAP) gathers its 1.600 members around common values and missions shared throughout their wide variety of actions in the health, social and medico-social sector.
Having for main interest the service provided to the citizens France, the FEHAP developed transversal competences in order to offer to the users a global and transveral care.
In France, the private non-profit sector first developed in the health field to cover the needs of a population not covered by the public hospital and by the private commercial hospital. This development has spread to the elderly, the disabled and people in precarious situations.
The absence of profit means that Private Non-Lucrative organizations must reinvest their benefits to meet the future needs of their users, creating a virtous circle of innovation and practice improvement. This model is based:
- on public service missions,
- on volunteer administrators,
- on common values focused on solidarity and collective interest,
- on the absence of shareholders and profits,
- on human-sized structures close to users and their needs,
- on a requirement for efficiency and balance of accounts.
