From 25 to 26 March, a delegation accompanied by Dialog Health travelled to Nantes and Cholet as part of a performance study mission entitled ‘State-of-the-art hospital logistics: let's take inspiration from industrial logistics’, organised in partnership with ANAP and France Supply Chain. The aim of this mission was to discover exemplary organisations and to analyse their deployment in all aspects of hospital activity.
Organized as part of the partnership between ANAP and France Supply Chain, this study mission enabled 18 hospital logistics professionals from various French healthcare institutions to experience an in-depth immersion in cutting-edge logistics organizations.

The program began with a visit to the Nantes University Hospital (CHU de Nantes), a leading institution in logistics innovations. Guided by Tony Perlemoine, Logistics Project Manager at CHU de Nantes, participants explored:
  • The current logistics platform and upcoming projects for the future hospital.
  • The general warehouse and pharmacy, including Kardex storage towers and three global medication distribution robots.
  • An exclusive preview demonstration of the Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR), developed with logistics experts.

On the second day, participants headed to the Cholet Hospital Center. This facility, serving over 250,000 residents, stood out in 2022 with the introduction of Xup-Med autonomous robots from the company Meanwhile, used for transporting blood samples, medications, and chemotherapy treatments.
In the morning, with the support of Eric Lemonnier, Logistics Manager at Cholet Hospital Center, they explored:
  • The logistics strategy implemented to support healthcare staff.
  • The impact of autonomous robots on efficiency and hospital workflow management.
  • An on-site visit with live robot demonstrations and discussions with healthcare professionals.

The delegation then continued its logistics exploration with a visit to the Airbus-dedicated logistics platform operated by IDEA. Located near the Airbus factory, this 9,000 sqm facility incorporates advanced technologies such as:
  • Automated vertical storage systems.
  • An AMR transfer robot for reception and storage.
  • Optimized supply management using Lean methodologies.

This study mission provided an immersive experience in innovative environments where logistics and automation play a crucial role in optimizing workflows, both in hospital and industrial settings. The discussions and feedback gathered throughout the program will contribute to new reflections on integrating technology into healthcare logistics management.
An enriching experience for all participants, who left with fresh ideas and inspiration to transform their own organizations!
